March 2013 Trip to California: Red Roof Inn Fresno

After we had picked up our car at Hertz LAX we hit the road towards Fresno. On our way we stopped at a Denny’s restaurant to have some breakfast and then headed to some Wal-Mart to stock up on water, Coke Zero, and some other stuff. Then we continued on to Fresno.

Somewhen in the afternoon we arrived at the Red Roof Inn where we had a booked an overnight stay. This was some kind of an interesting property to put it this way. It was nice that it had interior corridors. I count that as a plus. Weiterlesen

Delta SkyMiles no longer Redemption Partner of Red Roof Inn

Yesterday I received an e-mail from Red Roof Inn informing me that there has been a change in their RediCard program. As of today, February 1, 2013, they no longer offer Delta SkyMiles as a reward option. All member accounts are converted to Free Night Certificates as of today.

Previously, it was possible to receive 1,000 SkyMiles once 6,000 RediCard points were reached. This is no longer possible. Now members will be issued a Free Night Certificate upon reaching the threshold of 6,000 points.

This is the disappearance of another way of earning SkyMiles after e-miles and Opinion Points of the e-rewards program cannot be transferred to SkyMiles anymore.

Well, then I can earn free nights at Red Roof Inns instead. That is okay with me, but as I understand it, I need to call a US number if I want to redeem a free night. That’s a bummer. I don’t stay at Red Roof Inns often so maybe this changes until I earn one?

Fall 2012 Vacation in California: Merced to Sacramento, Red Roof Inn

After checking out of the Travelodge in Merced we stopped at a Denny’s near CA-99 to have breakfast. Karin and I built our own slams. Karin had hash browns, egg whites, turkey bacon, fruit, and wheat toast. I had hash browns, scrambled eggs, grilled ham, turkey bacon, chicken sausage, and wheat toast. It was good as always! We both decided to drink iced tea, our typical choice when at Denny’s the last few years.
