Earlier this year, American Express opened a new lounge at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, the Centurion Lounge. Access was complimentary for holders of the American Express Centurion card.
The lounge was also accessible for all other holders of American Express credit or charge cards. However, they had to buy an access key for $50 per person at the lounge entrance to enter. Centurion card holders could bring their spouse and children under 18 years of age or two companions with them, free of charge.
This has now been extended to holders of the Platinum card (of any flavor). They may also bring their spouse and children under the age of 18 or two companions with them. Also free of charge. Now that’s some great news for folks with the Platinum card traveling through LAS.
I, myself, currently don’t have any plans to fly to/from LAS, so I don’t know when I possibly will be able to experience this lounge myself. But it’s good to know there is a nice option if I happen to be there. According to American Express, they plan to open more lounges in other cities in the future. No word out yet where and when. Hopefully, those lounges will be complimentary for holders of the Platinum card as well!
