March 2013 Trip to California: Westin Verasa Napa

After checking out of the Comfort Inn Cordelia, having breakfast at the nearby Denny’s, and some shopping at the Napa Premium Outlets and a Wal-Mart we headed to the Westin Verasa Napa.

When arriving at the hotel we were greeted by bellmen and the valet parking crew. They helped us getting our luggage out of the trunk and then we headed inside where we were friendly welcomed at the check-in desk to the right. I must say that all the staff we met were very friendly. Each time we entered the hotel we were welcomed with a smile.

Check-in was professional and smooth. I was thanked for my loyalty as an SPG gold member and was given room 3086 with a nice pool view. As a welcome amenity I decided to take the 250 bonus points, since the internet was included in the mandatory resort fee and I wasn’t much interested in some nice drink. We were informed that each evening a kind of a free wine tasting took place in the lobby, accompanied with some free snacks. That’s nice!

We then took the elevator to the third floor and headed to our room.

The room featured the signature Westin Heavenly Bed which was very comfortable and a flatscreen tv. The room itself was not very large but still offered enough space for the two of us. The bathroom looked great, especially the shower was very nice. Of course, the water pressure and the temperature control were excellent. It was also very spacious and came with the signature dual shower head.

The vanity area looked very nice but the granite countertop was a little smallish for my taste. What I appreciated was the shaving mirror.

This hotel was the first one that I visited that offered two bathrobes and not just one. Karin does not use it but … could have done so 😉 I like it when one is available and happily use it.

We had a nice view from our room to the pool area. On the day we arrived it was a bit rainy so we didn’t use the pool that day. On the next day I jumped into it for a short while after we had come back from our trip with the Napa Valley Wine Train.

On our day of arrival we made use of the complimentary House Car and we were chauffeured to some restaurant in downtown Napa. We could have easily walked it, but it was our first time in Napa, so weren’t sure how things turn out. After dinner we decided to not call the hotel but instead take a walk back.

The next morning we strolled just across the street to the Wine Train Station and took the amazing Ambassador Tour. If you want to take a ride with the Wine Train this hotel has the absolutely best location. Fantastic!

This day I made use of the Green Choice option which was honored … somehow. I received a voucher for $5 off any meal or anything at any hotel restaurant. When checking out I happily converted this voucher to receive 500 points instead. This worked perfectly. However, I was surprised to find our room being made when we came back later that day. Well, housekeeping wasn’t aware of my choice. But I received the points, so no bad for me.

All in all we had a very nice stay at a beautiful resort!
