After dinner at the Black Bear Diner in Walnut Creek and getting back to our car at our friend’s house we drove to the W Silicon Valley in Newark. We arrived there around midnight, parked the car near the entrance and entered the building. I was greeted at the Welcome Desk by a friendly agent who efficiently checked us in and we were assigned suite 444.
Without being asked she recognized my gold status and asked which amenity I would choose. Internet was already included in the room rate for the Spectacular Suite so I decided to take the 250 points. Since we were staying for two nights I was also asked if I wanted to opt for the Green Choice. I accepted that offer, thus receiving 500 extra points for passing on housekeeping services after our first night. After being checked in I quickly parked the car and then we took the elevator to the fourth floor. Interestingly, one needs his key card to access floors 2-5 (this hotel has only five floors). A nice touch was that depending on daytime one is greeted with a carpet reading „Good Evening“ or „Good Morning“ inside the elevator.
Entrance to suite 444
Entering the beautiful and spectacular 😉 suite leads directly to the wet bar to the left and the living room straight ahead. There is a mini bar containing pricey drinks. The water inside is free for gold members. There is also the signature munchie box with snacks, condoms, etc. We left everything untouched, except for the water. On the right side there is a desk and a couch. The huge flat screen tv can be swiveled so it can be watched from both the couch and the bed which is on the left.

I liked how the bottle of wine and the pair of two glasses were placed. We left the wine also untouched but used the glasses for some cheaper wine we had brought with us (and for some Coke Zero).
TV in front of bed
The bedroom contains a nice and comfortable king bed and on the left side is the spacious bathroom with a separate bath tub and a glass-enclosed shower. The sink on the right side is rather stylish and made of stainless steel with enough room around it to place our stuff. Placed in the bathroom was another bottle of Fiji water that was larger than the bottle in the minibar. It was also complimentary for gold members. Gosh, sometimes I really love status 😉
Bathroom with bath tub and shower
The bathrobe that was hanged had a nice feel and was comfortable. I enjoyed wearing it after showering.
When I used the wifi with my netbook I was routed to a page where I could choose an option for how long I wanted to buy the internet connection. This was a little confusing since the rate description said that wifi usage was included. Well, I selected one of the options but ended up not being charged. So a little bit weird but in the end everything worked out right.
We did not use any of the hotel’s facilities like pool, fitness center, bar, or whatever. Just our room and the ice machine on the floor. And we were totally happy with all that. This was a really nice hotel, especially for the rate we paid. We were kinda sad when we had to leave after two great nights there.
